This card provides video Doppler processing, with formatted outputs for strip chart and Astromed recorders and/or video display monitors. The main function of the 515V (Video Doppler Processor) is to display a flight Doppler  plot in real-time on a thermal strip chart recorder.  You can also print IRIG time (resolved to one-millisecond) and selected telemetry parameters on the same plot. The system supports a chart speed of two inches per second or greater. A recording disk, necessary cables and software are supplied.





 The 515V is an integrated Video Doppler processor on a single 6U, VMEbus compatible card. During a data acquisition the 515V extracts and processes Video Doppler, adds IRIG time and up to eight telemetry measurements to the data, then can concurrently output rasterized plot data to a thermal chart recorder, transfer plot data over the VMEbus for CRT graphics display, and archive the processed and formatted data to hard disk for post-analysis manipulation.



 The 515V adds IRIG Time annotation to the processed Doppler data. This allows you to make high resolution post-analysis plots by processing through the Doppler data while reducing the paper speed. In this way you can produce plots with time resolutions of up to ten milliseconds per 200mm of paper motion.



The 515V processes analog Doppler inputs up to 250kHz, or to 450kHz for translated Doppler. You can down convert the translated Doppler by 200kHz. The analog input is normalized by an AGC amplifier, filtered, and digitized with 12 bit resolution. An FFT processor converts the input arrays to produce Power Spectral Density output to a graphics display section.



The 515V processes digital Doppler, extracted from the PCM stream, at rates up to 600k samples (300kHz). Data can be from 1 to 16 bits long, with multiple samples occurring in the same TM word. The processor assembles a

Doppler array using your input format descriptions to define bit syllabization within the telemetry word. The FFT then processes the arrays in the same manner as analog input data.



You can specify the chart speed and annotation for real-time Power Spectral Density graphic display (CRT and chart recorder) at X-axis rates up to 50mm per second, and incorporate up to eight telemetry parameters plus IRIG time display into your plot.
