Overview

 

The Model 2950P Multi-Channel Bit Synchronizer consists of up to sixteen 40 MHz PCM Bit Synchronizers in a single PCI based chassis. The compact 4 u (7" tall) chassis features an 8” LCD touch-screen control panel, with independent low-latency LED Bit Sync status displays identical to those found previously only high performance single and dual channel units. Touch screen display and  keyboard allows fast and easy viewing of all setup parameters and status, while the LED status indicators support confident operator decision making in the most demanding and complex operational environments. The system includes dual hot-swappable redundant power supplies to minimize the loss of mission critical data, removable system hard drive, and an amazing 88 bulkhead rear panel BNC connections which are configurable to match the most complex signal I/O demands.

At the heart of the Multi-channel system are the Acroamatics new Model 1611P and Model 474DM Advanced Digital Bit Synchronizer cards. Each 1611P and 474DM can be ordered (or upgrade in the field!) configured to provide optional format synchronizer (frame verify) and full-function built-in bit error rate test (BERT), or to provide support for Viterbi encode/decode, QPSK decode, or customer specified decoding applications requiring new codes or data formats as required. Model 1611P and 474DM each include significant unused programmable DSP potential and reserved for future capabilities. This upgradeability will allow you to respond quickly to evolving requirements such as:

• Recovering data from newly defined or application specific coding schemes

• Creating canned formats for recovering data from concatenated or layered codes

• Monitoring data streams for frame synchronization to resolve ambiguities or polarity inversions typical with many modulation schemes

 

System Software

 

GUI Setup and Operation Status displays are accessed through a front panel touch screen display. Each installed Model 2950P bit syncs (to 16 in total) are controlled via a single interface with distinctive menus easily accessed in any mode with a single touch command. The unit automatically recognizes all of the bit synchronizers as well as their features. Setup configurations can be stored and retrieved for all previous missions as a group or individually. A page lock command accessible via the GUI reminds users before executing new instructions in order to avoid mistakes during a live mission. Remote users can control the unit via the included Ethernet or RS-232 port. If two users are viewing the system simultaneously, both see the changes made in real time by either user.
